Visit from My Parents ~part 1~

On our way to pick up my parents we got caught in road blocks down on the coast. We had to call a fellow missionary to pick them up. We back tracked and finally made it to the capitol 5 hours later....Never a dull moment here in Guatemala!!
After we met up with Mom & Dad we stayed in the capitol for several days while the SETECA Missions Conference was going on. The whole family got to go on the last night. It was neat to see so many people, some I have not seen in years.

The kids (and I) really enjoyed the pool at the hotel.
It was a good little vacation for us, even more fun having Mimi & Grandsir there.

They are the most awesome parents, I am so proud they came down to visit!!
More to come.....

A Sad Day at the Footes House....

Our sweet Hershey got sick this week-end. Our Vet here in Santiago did all he could but Hershey passed away last night. She was a sweet spirited little dog who only lived one year. She will be greatly missed, especially by my kiddos.

Snaggletooth!!

Chloe Ann lost her sixth front tooth this week-end, she looks so cute. Danny was testing her to see if she could still whistle and she can...I don't know how!!

Naomi is determined to find "her" loose tooth, I hope she does not wriggle one loose at 3!!!

AECM Translators

Guatemala Team

January of 2008 we were asked to help out with the AECM (Academia, Educativa, Cultural, Maya) This is a new organization that was started by Mayans who see the need to translate the Bible into their mother tongue. They all have the New Testament and are yearning for the "whole" Book!! The team consists of 10 Language groups here in Guatemala who have the desire to complete the translation of the Bible. In January 08' the team came together from all over Guatemala to have workshops & Bible teaching. We met in San Miguel Chicaj, this is when Danny started teaching through Genesis. The end of October 08' we were able to have the AECM group at our house for the week-end. We had 27 people total and it was a fabulous time for all. Danny & I count it a privilege to be a part of this team. We have learned so much from them. As I sit through the meetings with these awesome men and women I can't help but think how easy we have it....We have had the Bible in English for so long. I just take it for granted that I can pick up my Bible and read it. I can't imagine NOT having the whole Bible in My heart language. Seeing the excitement, the desire and need for them to have the Translation makes me yearn for them to have it SOON. God has really put it on our hearts to help as much as we can. Each group wants to translate the Old Testament in their own language. Please pray God would give us wisdom and strength as we seek to help with this project.

Danny has had the awesome opportunity to begin teaching through Genesis. Then each translator will go back to their own town and work through the translation in their own language.
Thank you for being patient with me. I needed a short sabbatical from blogging. Thats what I am going to call it anyway!! I am ready to get back into it now, but the problem is where do I start? So much has been going on....I'll give it a shot.
